Supporting your family through pregnancy and after birth
Becoming a parent is an amazing,
And yet, it can be overwhelming too.
I would be happy to be at your side and empower you in this transition to motherhood/parenthood.
Welcome and congratulations if you or someone you love is expecting a baby! I am Maelle, an antenatal and postnatal doula based in London. I offer support all the way through your pregnancy, leading up to labour, and in the early weeks after birth, in your home in London or virtually across Europe, in English and French.
I will assist you in defining what works best for you, help you feel empowered for a positive birth experience, raise your confidence in your parenting skills, and provide some practical support after birth while you focus on bonding with your baby and recharge. In short, I am here to take care of you and help you be the parent(s) you want to be.
What is a doula?
The word doula is derived from a Greek word that originally meant a 'helper' or 'caregiver' and currently refers to a non-medical perinatal professional who provides mums-to-be a continuous source of comfort, encouragement and emotional support through pregnancy, birth and the early days of parenthood.
A doula will be by your side, like some experienced and well informed best friend, to offer a non-judgemental active listening ear to all family members, to guide you through the many options you will be offered during your pregnancy, answer the many questions you may have about labour and the birth to come, reassure you along the way, and help you prepare for your new life with your baby(ies).
Postnatally, a doula will support your family in the early weeks after birth, while you focus on bonding with your baby(ies) and settling in your new life. She will act like a fairy godmother, nurture your family and help you transition softly into parenthood as you start this new journey.
By “mothering the mother”, the doula will give mum the space to recover from pregnancy and childbirth and to focus on bonding with her baby(ies). A doula will share with you fact-based information about babies’ natural rhythm and development. She will guide you with baby feeding & sleep, new routines & daily organisation and offer practical support in your home.
